The Mackay & Chen Duo

Scottish cellist Hugh Mackay is involved in solo recitals, chamber & early music, and orchestral works.  

Hugh won 1st prize in the Nancy Nuttall Cello Sonata Competition with Junyan Shen his regular accompanist who was originally billed to be on Bute and has now been diverted instead to the Leeds International Piano Competition.

Hugh is now performing with Xiaowen Shang who has been nominated as a Rising Star in 2024 for BBC Music Magazine.
