Three Little Maids from SORELLE
Women in opera are so often brushed off as lovesick, weak, or sidekicks. Three sopranos want to change that.
Sorelle, or ‘sisters’, is an innovative all-female operatic group created to revitalise the image of the women of opera – the queens, heroines, and lovers – and restore them to their rightful place in the public imagination. The trio joined forces after touring in a production of Puccini’s allfemale Suor Angelica - hence the title of 'sisters'!
After a sold-out debut concert in Nailsworth, Sorelle were invited to perform in the Stroud Shakespeare Festival and in All Saints Summer Festival of the Arts in Oxford. With nine concerts under their belt so far (including a fully digital charity concert during lockdown), Three Little Maids is their second time performing at St Mary's. Sorelle are also delighted to be working with corporate clients such as Hammersmith BID for bespoke events and performances.
Sorelle are proud to be bringing opera straight to the heart of communities that are not regularly treated to the art form, and are particularly passionate about bringing opera to first-time concert goers, children, and those unable to venture further afield. They are also pleased to have a wide platform and the opportunity to curate niche and bespoke concerts, and develop new and little-performed repertoire alongside old favourites.
